Scripps Data Science Website Development
I saw a need for sharing resources, passing on institutional knowledge, and creating community within the Scripps Data Science Department. The motto of this project was “All the knowledge and connections that seniors have, but available to freshmen.”

The Process
-
Research & Interviews
We conducted an audit of other academic and creative websites to gather inspiration. Further, we built an understanding of user needs through multiple rounds of interviews with 8 students, 3 professors, and Scripps’ web development team.
-
Design & Development
We created wireframes and infographics, to explain what skills are gained from the minor, how to navigate course-planning, and listed computing-related clubs, hackathons, and resources. Our development team translated the wireframes into webpages using HTML, CSS, React.js.
-
Testing & Iteration
After feedback from users, we refined feature usability and visual hierarchy. We used mini prototypes and sandboxing to rapidly test and iterate features before adding them to the website. The final touch was proofreading copy and inviting Scripps alums to review the website.
